This Policy is designed to provide cover in the event of the proposer sustaining Death or Disablement by Accidental Injury; Accidental Injury being defined as Bodily Injury resulting solely and directly from Accident caused by external, violent and visible means. There has to be ‘External and Visible’ bodily injury due to some outside event clearly visible.
Sections of covers can be classified as:
Accidental Death (100% sum insured)
Permanent Total Disability (100% sum insured)
Permanent Partial Disability (a specified percentage as per the Continental Scale of Disabilities)
Temporary Total Disability (If the injury is not of permanent nature, but when the insured person is totally disabled for a period not exceeding 52 weeks, a weekly compensation of 1% of the sum insured is payable, however, not exceeding his actual weekly salary/wages).
Medical Expenses due to bodily injury caused due to an accident. (up to a specified Limit only, normally not exceeding 10% of the sum insured).
This Policy excludes “Natural Death” like, death due to heart attack or any kind of death which is not an accident.
The coverage is usually Worldwide (sometimes, coverage is not operational in certain countries arising out of certain circumstances) on 24 hour basis and covers both on duty and off duty.
